This blog has been designed to share my personal journey to a more vibrant, healthy life. It is predicated upon the idea that going on diets to manage weight is a faulty way of thinking because by their very nature diets tend to have a beginning and an end. It is the ‘end’ of a diet or the end of a commitment to healthy eating and regular exercise that leads most persons who have lost weight in the past to gain it back. I’ve been down this path countless times, and I’ve promised myself that I am done with dieting forever.
My new focus is on a permanent lifestyle change. Because this is what I plan to do from this point forward, the plan can’t be filled with drudgery nor can it be too complicated or unsustainable. Rather, the change I’m initiating will be based on selecting foods that are not only nourish my body but also that satisfy my palate. Nothing will be off limits, but I clearly understand there is a relationship between intake and output. As such, I’ll be cognizant of my exercise in relation to what I am eating.
However, the most important work that I’ll be doing during this transformation will likely be the mental work. I fully understand, I need to ‘reprogram’ my subconscious mind to establish a new understanding about who I am and what my relationship is to food and exercise. Some people will scoff at the idea that the subconscious mind plays such an important role in creating the world in which we live, but I hope those persons will at least consider the possibility and read the posts I share in an open spirit. At the most rudimentary level, the beliefs held in the subconscious mind are at the heart of the ‘self-fulfilling prophecy,’ which is an idea with which most people are at least familiar.
Finally, I’ll share not only progress but recipes and product reviews for items you might consider purchasing. These reviews will include both food items and gadgets.
I sincerely hope you find my journey enlightening and inspiring if you too, need to select a new path for the rest of your life.
